NFL - Week 12 Predictions

This is a busy week for work and the family so this will be a short and sweet week for predictions.  I went 13-3 last week bringing my season total to 120-40.

What is with Oakland sucking but still able to upset Philadelphia and most recently beating up on Cincinnati???  Is this the making of a team to contend with next year?  Not sure I believe that but we will see.  It does however appear that Jamarcus Russell may be on the bench for some time now…good place for him.

I went against Miami last week and man did I pay for it.  Without Ronnie Brown the Dolphins fed the ball to dread-lock-less, weed-less Ricky and he ran and ran and ran all over the Panthers.  Luckily I have him in fantasy football though.

Let’s get to the picks this week.  Remember, the month of November is when the big dogs start to play some serious football and the pretenders all go home complaining about missed calls, the other team cheating and how lucky the other team was.  Note: Mangini made all three of those complaints about the Lions.  You are a horrible coach and you have zero dignity when it comes to losing.

Green Bay Packers (6-4) at Detroit Lions (2-8) - Green Bay
Detroit played very well last week, on offense.  Green Bay is trying to fight for their playoff lives and Detroit is just in the way.  Look for Rogers to run this one up today.

Oakland Raiders (3-7) at Dallas Cowboys (7-3) - Dallas
Oakland has 2 upset wins this year…at home.  On the road is another trick which they have not learned yet.  Dallas will work the Raiders all day with their running game.

New York Giants (6-4) at Denver Broncos (6-4) - NY Giants
Denver is falling apart and falling apart fast.  Denver fans are already looking for a new coach and QB.  The Giants are looking to make a run at the division title.  With Bradshaw out today, look for Jacobs to pound the ball all day long.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-9) at Atlanta Falcons (5-5) - Atlanta
Atlanta needs a win and they need it bad right now.  Tampa Bay looked like a young team with no real ability to win last week.  Look for a lot of the same today.

Indianapolis Colts (10-0) at Houston Texans (5-5) - Indianapolis
I have a feeling the Texans will fight hard today but I cannot pick against the hot hand of Manning.

Miami Dolphins (5-5) at Buffalo Bills (3-7) - Buffalo
Buffalo has nothing to play for except for pride.  That makes fro a scary game for the Dolphins.

Washington Redskins (3-7) at Philadelphia Eagles (6-4) - Philadelphia
Look for Philadelphia to attack early and fast this week and the Redskins will be with their #1 and #2 backs…that is very bad news.

Chicago Bears (4-6) at Minnesota Vikings (9-1) - Minnesota
Cutler is coming unglued and the Bears fans are really starting to hate him.  There were chants of “Cut-him Cut-him” in Chicago last week.  And he thought Denver fans were tough on him.  Minnesota dominated the Seahawks last week on all three sides of the ball…look for the same game this week from them.

Carolina Panthers (4-6) at New York Jets (4-6) - NY Jets
NY Jets look bad and I mean bad right now.  They have had to install codes into their play book to ease the brain of Sanchez.  On the other side Jake has been playing well but I would look for a swing in the favor of NY.

Arizona Cardinals (7-3) at Tennessee Titans (4-6) - Tennessee
Vince Young and Chris Johnson are the hot duo in the league right now.  Arizona will have to face a very hungry defense and I like the Titans odds over the Cardnials.

Cleveland Browns (1-9) at Cincinnati Bengals (7-3) - Cincinnati
The Bengals are PISSED and the Browns are on the field.  I wonder what Mangini will blame this week for losing?

Seattle Seahawks (3-7) at St. Louis Rams (1-9) - Seattle
Seattle is banged up and bruised from last week and the Rams are trying to put things together.  I am going with teh gut on this one and would look for the Seahawks to get the win.

Jacksonville Jaguars (6-4) at San Francisco 49ers (4-6) - San Francisco
I know, the Jaguars are holding strong at 6-4 but I would look for the 49ers to establish a solid ground game this week.

Kansas City Chiefs (3-7) at San Diego Chargers (7-3) - San Diego
San Diego is on the verge of running the table for the AFC West title…the Chiefs are just a bystander in the way.

Pittsburgh Steelers (6-4) at Baltimore Ravens (5-5) - Baltimore
I would not want to be Big Ben today.  He is going to get blitzed all day and every Raven will be looking for his head.  He will be treated like a casino hostess getting tossed around in a professional QB’s suite…okay, that was not very nice.  Sorry.  Actually I would look for Big Ben to skip this game and let an unknown QB take the field.

New England Patriots (7-3) at New Orleans Saints (10-0) - New Orleans
Do you want to know what to watch for in this game?  Watch for the Saints to showcase their 10-0 record for everyone to see.

The Muppets sing Bohemian Rhapsody

This is one of the best videos of the year by far.  Animal with his “Momma” bit had me laughing pretty good.

Shiney Suds

I am not sure why this is so damn funny but it is.  The worst part is, it might make you think twice about the scrubbing bubbles cleaner now.  “loofah loofah loofah loofah”  ROFL!

Holy back boobs Batman…

I will not justify this post with any rants or complaints…I will let you see for yourself.  I love http://www.peopleofwalmart.com.  p.s.  Why would you do this?!?

NFL - Week 11 Predictions

I went a sorry 10-5 last week bringing my season total to 107-37 (74%) and the season does not seem to be getting any easier to predict.  Teams that are supposed to win, lose.  Teams that are supposed to lose, win.  We are seeing which teams will make the Super Bowl run and we are also seeing that some are fading rather quickly.

We started the week of football early as Jay Cutler and Devon Hester stuck it up in a loss to the 49ers in San Francisco.  Cutler threw 5 picks and is starting to come unglued and we are starting to see him start to boil over.  He almost lost his temper with Hester but some how kept his cool…for now.  He needs a solid WR and he needs it now.  Without a solid WR the defense is stacking the line for Forte and they are shutting him down very well.  Tennessee came through with their 3rd straight victory with V Young at QB.  They are playing like a new team with a goal in mind.  Could they possibly pull off a 9-7 or better yet 10-6 season???  New Orleans got another scare but still won the game…the best teams seem to find a way every time.  I am not sure if it was their poor play or the inspired play of the Rams.  Cincinnati gave Pittsburgh everything they could handle and walked away with the victory.  That was one of the best defensive battles we have seen all year.  It came at a price though with Benson going down but I would look for him to return before too many games go by.  Denver…lost their third straight game and according to Coach McDanials, he has it figured out.  I guess we will see about that this weekend.  I will only hit this once, New England lost that game to Indianapolis due to a very sorry coaches decision.  There is no way with the game on the line you go for it on 4th down on your own 28 yard line.  Punt the damn ball down the field and try and stop him with a long field.  STUPID!

My top 5 teams for the week are:

  1. New Orleans - no change as they dominate week to week
  2. Indianapolis - very strong game against NE
  3. Minnesota - moving up with a very solid offensive performance
  4. Cincinnati - This is a team that no one wants to play right now
  5. New England - I almost dropped them out of the top 5 but I have a feeling they will get it back together this week

 (4-5)     at     (4-5) - Carolina
I do not think that Miami can win without Ronnie Brown right now.  Carolina is on a hot streak and I would look for that to continue.

(3-6)     at     (6-3) - Dallas
Dallas was beat in Green Bay last week and their offense looked horrible.  I do not look for that to happen again.

(1-8)     at     (1-8) - Detroit
This is the battle for the #1 pick next year.

(4-5)     at     (5-4) - Green Bay
Green Bay will dominate at home again and maybe this week put up some good offensive numbers.  This should be a good battle but Green Bay will come out on top.

(6-3)     at     (2-7) - Kansas City
*UPSET ALERT*  Call this my upset pick of the year.  Pittsburgh always plays to the level of their opponent and you will see that again this week.

(3-6)     at     (8-1) - Minnesota
If Seattle can play some solid defense this could be a good game.  Minnesota is having a hard time stepping in front of passes and picking them off, but they will get the victory.  Minnesota is tough to beat in the dome and Seattle does not have enough weapons to challenge them.

(5-4)     at     (5-4) - NY Giants
The G-Men are rested and pissed off.  Look for NY to come out swinging and look for the running game to go crazy this week.  Atlanta is starting to fade and if they lose this game, they could be in trouble for the rest of the season.

(9-0)     at     (1-8) - New Orleans
Tampa Bay has played well recently but they have not faced an offense of this caliber.  New Orleans will get the ball moving and show some dominance again.

(3-6)     at     (5-4) - Jacksonville
New head coach in Buffalo, same result.  Jacksonville is playing a much better game right now and Buffalo does not have a QB to throw well.  Long day for TO and Company.

(9-0)     at     (5-4) - Baltimore
Some are saying this is an upset pick but I like Baltimore at home.  They looked bad against the worst team in the league last week but they will get it back together.  Indianapolis is not going to like it in the cold and with some serious hard hitting.  Manning might be in trouble this week…injury trouble.

(6-3)     at     (1-8) - Arizona
Arizona should have zero problems with this game.  The Rams looked tough last week but still lost.  That will play on their minds as Arizona passes the ball all day long.

(6-3)     at     (6-3) - San Diego
Without Orton and without a defense all of the sudden, Denver is in trouble.  Look for San Diego to play very solid and tough football.  To all the Denver fans that were screaming for Simms in the beginning…here you go…enjoy.

(7-2)     at     (2-7) - Cincinnati
The Raiders are in for a very painful game as Cincinnati is flying high and hitting hard.  I am not happy with the LJ signing but if they can turn him around, good for them and LJ.  Long day in Raider nation this weekend.

(4-5)     at     (6-3) - New England
I would bet that New England is not going to play stupid football this week.  Look for the offense to score a ton of points and put this game away fast.

(5-4)     at     (4-5) - Philadelphia
Chicago is in trouble and I am not sure that Cutler can turn it around at home against the Eagles defense.  Westbrook is out again but that just means that the ball will be flying out of McNabb’s hands all day.

(3-6)     at     (5-4) - Tennessee
I like this game to be a shootout but I am not sure it will end that way.  Look for Tennessee to continue with the smart football and inspired defensive play.

Windows 7 launches line dancing

Everyone is aware that MS launched Windows 7 and it has shattered records everywhere.  It has even forced China to tell MS to stop sales of XP.  I can tell you that Windows 7 rocks and it rocks hard.  The only times I have seen it crash is when I force a serious crash on the system for testing purposes.  Recently though, the MS Store in Mission Viejo, CA had some employees break out into line dancing…to the Black Eyed Peas.  I personally like the Black Eyed Peas, but to use them for line dancing…weird.  I think this is a funny video and it shows that these employees love their job, but is this getting to the point of trying to be like others???  Either way, I hope they keep it up and enjoy what they do for a living.

NFL - Week 10 Predictions

Week 9 was a rather predictable week of football and the elite teams are starting to emerge and separate themselves from the non-elite teams.  I went 11-2 last week bringing my season total to 97-32.  That gives me a solid 75% at picking the winners.

It is starting to become very clear that we have some very sad NFL teams and they are not looking very good at all.  Washington, St Louis, Detroit, Cleveland, Oakland and Kansas City all appear to be battling for the #1 overall pick in next years draft.  Some other very low teams have made a few adjustments and look to be making a run at saving their season and their fan base.  Tennessee has won the second strait game and Tampa Bay won a very solid game for their first win.  I am going to go out on a limb here and say that Tennessee could possibly make it to 8-8 for the season which would be a great turn around and possibly save the Vince Young draft pick and future of his NFL career.

A few teams that appear to be on a downward tailspin are the NY Giants, Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears.  The Giants brought in a ton of free agents yesterday and today and I am not sure if that is to spark the team with fear or if they are actually looking at any of these guys.  If you want to strike fear into your team, bring Larry Johnson in and let him workout side by side with Jacobs.  The Packers lost to Tampa Bay and they looked like they still had visions of Brett Farve in their head.  Rogers is running for his life and has yet to learn how to get rid of the ball.  He has a huge amount of talent but yet he still makes very dumb mistakes.  As for the Bears, well Lovie Smith…you wanted to call the defensive plays and you now get to accept the blame on that side of the ball.  This defense looks lost and over-matched big time.  Offensively they look to be making strides forward with Cutler.  If they were to throw in a legitimate receiver, Cutler would be dangerous.

Denver, oh Denver.  You go from 6-0 to 6-2 with 2 very bad losses to AFC opponents.  First Baltimore roughed you up through 4 quarters then the Steelers roughed you up for about 2.5 quarters.  Get the ball down field and start spreading out the defense.  You have 2 damn good receivers, Royal and Marshall, but yet you are afraid to throw the ball down field over 20 yards.  In the NFL we call that scared s***less and not having any trust in your offense.  Spread the ball around, stretch the field deep and get creative with the play calling.

Right now there is 2 elite teams in the NFL, Indianapolis and New Orleans.  Both teams have been tested 2 games in a row but yet they still win.  Both teams have played at about a C level and still win.  That is scary, because when a team can win without bringing their A game to the table…that means they can beat anybody thrown in front of them.

Here is my top 5 teams at the half way mark of the season.

  1. New Orleans
  2. Indianapolis
  3. Pittsburgh
  4. New England
  5. Minnesota

Let’s move on to this week’s games and do not forget we have a Thursday night game this week.

(4-4)    at    (3-5) - Chicago
I think Chicago saw their offense click for the first time last week and I expect them to continue that run.  San Francisco seems to have fallen again with poor QB play and a defense that needs to really step it up.

(3-5)    at    (2-6) - Tennessee
I am sticking with Tennessee and their new found honor at QB, defense and their play calling on offense.  Buffalo is still one of those teams that could win any given Sunday but they seem to forget how to execute come game time.

(8-0)    at    (1-7) - New Orleans
Dangerous game for New Orleans but they will light it up on the offense and the defense will get back to making plays again.  Look for the defense of New Orleans to score a TD and the offense to score at least 28.

(1-7)    at    (3-5) - Miami
I liked the game last week from rookie QB Freeman but I am not sure he can do that on the road and against a team that can run all day everyday.  Look for Miami to put on the running shoes and crank out a solid 250 yards on the ground.

(1-7)    at    (7-1) - Minnesota
Minnesota is coming off their bye week and needed it badly with some key injuries.  Look for Minnesota to give Detroit a heavy dose of the running game and another solid defensive outing.  I do not see this game being close at all.

(4-4)    at    (4-4) - Jacksonville
This could be a very well matched up game and I think this game will come down to the defense on both sides of the ball.  I would look for the Jaguars defense to step it up a notch and pressure Sanchez into some bad throws.  Jacksonville will win this one on the road and creep over the .500 mark.

(6-2)    at    (6-2) - Cincinnati
This is going to be a huge game this week and I expect both defenses to beat the crap out of each others offense.  I am on the Bengals bandwagon to make a serious run into the playoffs.  This is my major upset of the week.

(6-2)    at    (2-6) - Denver
This is the game the Broncos needed.  A good rebound relationship…I mean rebound game to get back on track.  I would expect Denver to get their running game going and for Orton to try at least 2, maybe 3 20+ yard passes…I hope anyways.

(5-3)    at    (3-5) - Atlanta
Atlanta has had some tough losses this year but I am putting money on the fact that they beat up Carolina and keep pressure on New Orleans.  Atlanta will have a very solid and well balanced pass/run attack all day long.

(1-7)    at    (2-6) - Kansas City
This is a sad but on the schedule game this week.

(6-2)    at    (4-4) - Dallas
Sorry Packer fans but you will lose back to back home games.  The offense is a bit out of sorts and the defense is not good.  On the Dallas side of the ball, they have their offense clicking well and their defense is starting to shine.  Look for Rogers to run for his life again and the defense to get beat up all day.  Rogers will have good numbers but it will be in comeback mode all day long.  Look for Dallas to control this game with their running attack.

(3-5)    at    (5-3) - Arizona
Look for Arizona to light up the scoreboard again as Warner continues to roll and put some distance in their division.  Seattle had a chance early this year but they blew it big time with poor play calling and poor execution.

(5-3)    at    (5-3) - San Diego
This will be a good battle of two teams fighting for their division lives.  San Diego can smell the division as Denver is falling and San Diego is climbing.  Philadelphia will fall again this week with a poor running game.  This game will be close in the end with SD pulling it out late.

(6-2)    at    (8-0) - New England
I am calling this the “Could have been great” game of the week.  I know Indianapolis is 8-0 but I am not impressed with their play as of late.  They have won games that have been close but their running game is going to kill them if they are not careful.  Ont he other side, New England is starting to look very tough with a solid passing game and a good running game.  With the victory, New England will jump ahead of Indianapolis in the Power Rankings.

(4-4)    at    (1-7) - Baltimore
Cleveland will again help another team get back on track.  Baltimore will be too much for Cleveland to handle and this will spell the beginning for Mangini to fall to the way side.  Look for Holmgren to get a job soon and take over the Football Operations piece and bring in a solid “good resume” coach to clean house.

Well, let the games begin ladies and gentlemen.

Star Wars gangsta rap

Back in 2002 a group created an Internet phenom with Stars Wars Gangsta Rap.  Well they have made their comeback with a sequel to the original and it is even better.  The second video is a bit more on the vulgar side (which is why I found it very funny).  If bad language bothers you, do not listen tot he second video…I am warning you…don’t do it…

ALL NEW! Star Wars Gangsta Rap: Chronicles

NFL - Week 9 Predictions

I finished week 8 10-3 bringing my season total to 86-30.  Well St Louis and Tennessee got their first wins of the season finally and Brett Farve gave Packers fans everything they were used to seeing for 16 years (my only Viking love for the week).  We also saw the Ravens hand the Broncos their first loss of the year and in a big way.  The season is starting to show who the contenders are and who the high draft pick teams will be next year.  It has really turned out to be a very lopsided season.  Yes we have seen a couple of major upsets but we have also seen some serious over-matched games.

Has anyone seen the NY Giants lately?  No, seriously.  Has anyone seen them anywhere?  The football team has lost 3 in a row and they do not look like the team that went 5-0 to start the season.  They went from elite 4 in the NFL to middle of the road top 15 maybe.  Their offense is not looking like it has wheels and the defense is just not doing anything right.  No pressure on the QB except for the pressure that is all over Manning.  It might be time to take a step back and look at what has been going on and why.  Manning went from looking like Peyton Manning to looking like the Raiders QB Russell.  The scary part is they have to face a hungry Chargers team that is looking for any sign of good fortune…any.

I wonder if Jeff Fisher reads this post each week?  If he did, his team might actually have 2 wins by now…but they will start with 1 I guess.  It does not get easy for them as they head to San Francisco.  If they go with the old KISS (keep it simple stupid) game plan for QB Young they might do just fine.

I am actually very curious as to what crawled up ‘ol Jake’s butt this last week and gave him the power to beat the Cardinal’s?  Also curious how a team who just handled the Giants got smacked around by the Panthers.  Weird, very weird.

I warned each of you about Baltimore being pissed off and the Broncos had to face the wraith of 3 disappointing losses.  Look for Baltimore to continue to power the ball and bruise folks on defense.

(2-5)     at     (4-3) - Atlanta
Atlanta had so many damn chances against the Saints and they still fell short.  They will not need that many against the Redskins though.  Look for the Falcons to open up the passing game big time.  Also watch out for Michael Turner as he runs over the Redskins all day long.

(4-3)     at     (4-3) - Arizona
Chicago finally found Forte and Forte finally found his feet and legs.  Look for the Bears to continue with the running attack to give Cutler some help with the passing game.  The Cardinal’s were exposed last week on both sides of the ball but do not look for that to happen again.  I would watch for Warner to show Cardnial’s fans he is still alive and can throw to the correct team.

(4-3)     at     (5-2) - Cincinnati
Baltimore got the defense rolling and the offense continued to play well.  The Bengals are the feel good story of the season so far and I like them to continue that story moving forward.  Baltimore will have trouble slowing the Big Cat’s down like they did to Denver.  Good hard fought defensive game.

(5-3)     at     (7-0) - Indianapolis
The Colts won last week having only one TD pass…by…Addai, not Manning.  That will not happen again.  This game is shaping up to be a shoot out but I would look for Manning to control the game from start to finish.

(3-4)     at     (5-2) - New England
The wild cat does not run well in cold weather and Henne will not be able to save them either.  Look for Brady and Co. to go pass crazy.

(4-3)     at     (0-7) - Green Bay
First victim on the RRR (Rogers Revenge Road) is the Bucs.  Aaron Rogers is pissed and he needs to take it out on someone.  His Daddy has now beat him in 2 straight games and they are fading in the division fast.  A win over the Bucs will help with some of the pain…not all…just some.  If by some chance the Packers lose, the Green/Yellow Cheesehead followers will become very restless and will want some answers very soon.

(1-6)     at     (3-4) - Jacksonville
The Chiefs have added a big WR in Chambers but he will not be a factor for quite a few weeks.  But with Bowe and Chambers as WR, Cassell might end the season very well and the Chiefs might have greater expectations next year…NEXT year.  Jacksonville is not good but they will be good enough for the win.

(3-4)     at     (7-0) - New Orleans
“…roll out, roll out…big pimpin’ big pimpin’…”  That is all you heard from the Saints last week after escaping with a win at home against the Falcons.  Playing the Panthers will make their defense feel better and the offense should get right back on track with a 40+ point game.

(1-6)     at     (2-5) - Seattle
The Kitties vs The Tweety Birds.  Tweety will pull out the victory but ESPN will forget to highlight the game later…hehe, I said highlight.  Not much to play for here except that Detroit wants the top honors again in the draft.

(4-3)     at     (5-3) - San Diego
This is my upset pick of the week (this one’s for you Jason W).  I do not like what is going on for the Giant’s right now and I have a feeling they will continue to fall down (queue “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up” commercial).  I would be willing to say this will be a defensive battle with the Chargers taking the prize late.  Hey Giant’s coaches and players, USE Jacobs more and you will get your winning ways back!

(1-6)     at     (3-4) - Tennessee
I cannot really call this an upset because neither team really shows a lot of promise.  I know Alex Smith has made a come back but it will falter soon enough.  Vince Young on the other hand will give the Titans their second victory of the year.  Not him alone of course but with help from the running game and his line.  This will be a shoot out in the end with the Titans taking the victory lap.

(5-2)     at     (5-2) - Philadelphia
The first real playoff type game of the year.  The winner will have 1st place and bragging rights.  Dallas is do for another heart breaker and Philadelphia is due to continue their roll.  The Eagles know that everyone is still talking about the Raider defeat so they make up for it with a first place day and great numbers from McNabb again.  By the way, what ever happened to that Vick guy?  ;-)

(5-2)     at     (6-1) - Pittsburgh
This could have been the match-up of the week except that Pittsburgh had the week off and Denver is still trying to figure out how the Ravens were not flagged for having too many men on the defense (there was only 11 but after they got smacked around it looked like 22).  Denver is not equipped to handle that much defensive pressure and will fall again.  Sorry to the Bronco fans, sorry.
